It's important to spend some time to review how the week went with your student. Providing a week-by-week review of student tasks and responsibilities will help you develop and follow a timeline of expectations and student achievements. It will also help with student progression and goal setting for each week.
A weekly review is meant to be shared with the student, and as you work through the weeks, use the schedule to make sure students are on track and do not fall behind. Ultimately, the weekly schedule will help you establish routine check-ins with your student. By regularly and formatively checking in with your student, you can make small continual adjustments to your instructional strategies.
Some clinicians will do this at the beginning of the week, others at the end. These are guides only. Feel free to adapt your meetings as necessary to meet the needs of all parties involved. You want to facilitate your student's experience and growth!
Some concepts you can discuss include:
Student observations of treatments and evaluations
Review of treatment plans
Discuss major issues of the week
Establish weekly goals; feel free to consult with the University's academic coordinator if needed
Review the weekly checklist to be sure assignments are met in a timely manner
Review student performance
Review documentation issues
Answer any questions the student may have
Utilize feedback strategies
